"The Aviva Centre" Bristol

The Aviva Centre in Brierly Furlong, Stoke Gifford, North Bristol BS34 8SW - is one of the financial service companies major corporate office base.
Aviva Group has had a rich historical business connection within the Bristol area for over 200 years. They point out Bristol has a thriving cultural scene with loads of edgy artists like Banksy.
They said they do like his style BUT also that 'we're glad we weren’t the Insurers on that painting that shredded itself though'.
Recently, parts of the building have been rebranded and marketed as Lake View Bristol, although it remains a central hub for Aviva's operations in the city.
However, in the past reportedly the Aviva Centre site and it's neighbouring retail park was up for discussion, as it could be redeveloped for housing.
The company stated that there had been a decline in the interest of out-of-town office spaces over the last few years for various reasons.
In 2026, it was then announced that the Insurer would be involved in Bristol's exciting new entertainment 20,000 seater venue - nearby at the Brabazon Hangars. It will be named the Aviva Arena.
This building project is expected to hopefully open in 2028 - and is one of several different sponsorship naming rights deals the company have entertained.
These plans for the new Aviva Venue Bristol Arena are expected to contribute around £1 billion to the regional economy over its 1'st decade.
They said it will also create 1000's of jobs throughout its construction and operation.

AVIVA Centre & Sponsorship Rights

Sponsorship & naming rights are very important for Aviva to help continue to build their overall brand visibility & awareness - as a leading provider of financial services and also urban regeneration.
As they say, one of their business raison d'etre aims (aside from finance) is to be a powerful role in shaping the sports, arts, music, entertainment & cultural output of the UK.
Including The Aviva Centre - they operate out of 12 key UK locations which may cover those main aspects of financial services they're involved with like insurance, retirement & savings.
As Aviva corporate has reportedly said, that like all Insurers it's an inherently intangible brand - in that they don't have physical products or a major retail footprint (apart from offices like The Aviva Centre).
The Aviva Centre has a good rating with employees - stating it's a lovely office building with great employee facilities, which having visited myself I can confirm.
Their various City office locations like the Aviva Centre Bristol - also give them a really powerful opportunity to bring the Aviva Insurance Brand to Life physically for their customers + to remind them about all year-round.

Who are AVIVA Life Insurance?

The Aviva life insurance multinational brand - traces its roots back to 1696 into a London Coffee House.
Their founders were 1 of 3 fire insurance companies started after the Great Fire of London. Looking back into Aviva's history since then - It is one of many company mergers.
The insurance underwriting industry within the city of Bristol, all strongly reflects their role as a major maritime hub in the past. The development of insurance, was largely a response to those risks associated with the shipping trade.
In 2000, Norwich Union merged with CGU, which itself was formed from the merger of UK Insurers Commercial Union and General Accident in 1998.
Upon merging, they formed CGNU Life Insurance Group, which from 2002 then became Aviva in the UK.
They bought Hamilton Insurance in 2007, then announced they were phasing out the 200-year-old UK iconic brand name Norwich Union and from 2008 just trade around the globe as Aviva.
Aviva's UK TV adverts using Paul Whitehouse helped spread the new single brand message over this time.
In 2015 - Aviva then bought Friends Life (formed from amalgamation of AXA, BUPA Life & Friends Provident) whose once famous brand names were also quietly dropped over next few years to just be part of Aviva.
In 2023, Aviva agreed to buy AIG protection business. Aviva said that their AIG Life Limited (AIG Life UK) purchase would help deliver them significant capital and expense synergies.
Today Aviva Life & Pensions look after the administration of many old insurers heritage legacy plans. They are also a global insurance, pensions & investment giant.
They have also become today The '1 Stop' Insurance Provider for many Banks, Building Societies & Supermarkets.

*What's MSE Martin Lewis AVIVA Insurance Review?

The Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis has for example reviewed the AvivaPlus monthly subscription services provided by Aviva Insurance & how it stacks up.
They say there's no doubt that AvivaPlus service will offer much more flexible insurance cover than most insurance policies.
MSE also tips Aviva for your PMI health premiums. They may give a discount off them, if you follow its recommended actions to improve your lifestyle, after filling in their health questionnaire.
Martin Lewis hasn't specifically commented on any other particular Aviva Life Insurance policies & how it ranks against the competition. But Aviva Life Insurance plans are a discussed MSE forum topic.
The Money Expert however says that he does '100% recommend Life Insurance', especially if you have any dependants.
MSE says 'Thinking about how your family may cope financially if you were to die isn't a very cheerful topic, BUT it is an Important One'.
So Martin Lewis agrees life insurance is important if anyone is reliant on your Income & would struggle financially without you around ie; an insurable interest.
He also discusses the value in other insurance plans if you were off sick, like income protection vs critical illness.
Therefore YES it's a cheap financial lifeline but the ultimate monthly costs choice is always yours. We agree here - whether that's AVIVA or other Leading UK Insurers we use.
Martin Lewis also suggests being the Money Expert - that you "NEVER BLINDLY BUY DIRECT" expensive policy offers either via your Bank or One Insurer ie; Shop around & USE a Broker for the Best Deals (with or without advice).
MSE says often those best deals are via a Broker

Martin Lewis for a good rule of thumb in 2026, his Best Life Insurance formula is 'THE 10 x RULE' ie; aim to cover 10 x the Annual income of the highest earner & the main breadwinner until at least any kids have finished their full-time education or other dependants.
So Martins' other protection rules of thumb tips here - recommends insuring at least "10 x salary or outgoings" of the main breadwinner for critical illness cover +"insure upto 2/3rds salary" for income protection.
To help you calculate a figure that works for you, Martin Lewis on Life Insurance says it's worth ensuring any policy covers:-
- Outstanding Debts: that need to be paid off eg; mortgage unless covered by a separate plan
- Immediate Outgoings: regular bills dependants would need to pay
- Future Spending: you may have wished to make eg; university fees
- Additional Expenses: a death may trigger eg; funeral costs
Conclusion: "The Aviva Centre Bristol"
These Aviva brand naming rights they feel currently works well for all their business ventures & Bristol as nominated city - as they look to expand their corporate presence there.
So all parties can both work amicably together to achieve their common goals - both off & on their Bristol Aviva Centre office and also new Bristol Aviva Arena.
It's all designed as one of the biggest UK finance providers, to remind people to hopefully consider using them to help look after themselves - for many of life's key challenges & stages - for either their insurance, financial investments or retirement strategy needs.
In conclusion, AVIVA's ongoing involvement with wide use of their 'Naming Rights' & Logo branding for their intangible products - helps to maintain the companies current and future market physical exposure & presence.
